If you're feeling a bit bombarded by politics, Manhattan porno, and Berkeley undergrads wallowing in bath-tub shit-water (sadly the latter two are probably much cleaner, at least according to O'Rourke and HST standards), a professor of the Ancient Mediterranean suggested the following: Becharovka over a large glass of ice with a splash of tonic. It worked last weekend, and it seems to be working now.
Any other suggestions out there?

Vodka tonics are much better than gin and tonics. Globalism rulz. You forgot the lime.
ReplyDeleteBeware gin & tonic, especially when mixed with vodka. When in grad school, I got a terrible hangover from the combination -- never touched the stuff since then.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of which, my first hangover ever was from -- ouzo. Boy, oh boy -- that stuff is vicious. Sweet and sickly, it tricks you till your head spins like crazy. Only had it once in my life, right there by the shores of the Pontus Euxinus -- one too many, if you ask me.
Good idea to drink booze at the beach, dude. Even been to Texas? Boorsnob or not, a decent Texan will be drinking americanische pisswasser from a can while in the sun and surf.
ReplyDeleteI have to ask: are you fellahs familiar with the herbal Bohemian liquor, Becherovka? It's about 40% booze and supposedly an old-timey eastern European "medicinal" recipe.
ReplyDeleteAs of now, I've been enjoying it much more than gin or vodka tonics.
Never heard of it until now, MFT. Thanks for raising the tempting prospect without a sows chance at a Texas barbecue of getting one.
ReplyDeleteActually, AA, it was at a Texas BBQ that I met Maddie Albright.
