Michigan held the previous record, and some city in New York state has attempted it too. So far, however, North Dakota holds title to most absurd... uh, I mean, holds the title for the snow angel record: the simultaneous making of 8,911 snow angels.
Note: after sustained sub-zero temps on the upper Plains, this might also be a response to cabin fever.
