It's a question of gravitas, which will be enhanced if he's in the Senate: Palin can still fire up a crowd like no one else on the Republican circuit, but remains a raw talent. In her stump speech she can lose her thread and flit confusingly from one subject to another.
Rubio on the other hand was immensely better scripted, more polished, and showing signs of the charisma that has made Palin such a political celebrity. He framed the midterms as a choice between Obama’s quasi-socialism and true American values.
