Along that top rail-looking thing, they've got some special ammo that shoots down and intercepts the missile or RPG round right before it hits the Humvee (or whatever).
RPGs usually have small charges (so that they have long range) and so they have to explode right up against the surface in order to penetrate its armor.
I don't think this would do any good against AP shells that are just heavy, though, like DU...
Of course I don't know anything about this stuff... If the countermeasures disrupt this, it's game over, for that round.

Sounds iffy to me. Would you bet your life on it? On the other hand, better than nothing, I guess.
