Of course, it's all been said before -- and it's all true -- but Krauthammer summarizes the case extremely well (he's a pro).

Forget about the flagpin, Pepe -- it's just a corroborating detail in the bigger canvas being painted here. I found much more revealing the anthropological observation that "bitter" working-class whites cling to guns and religion because they misapprehend their real class interests. Precisely. "Class interests". The Marxist jargon, so beloved by the pinko Left. The categories through which they comprehend the world. This is where this guy fits, that's how he talks (when not rehearsed), that's his milieu: Cambridge, Village, Hyde Park, Berkeley. He's gonna carry those precincts in a landslide.
