The president also made a comparison between Iraq and the Vietnam War, saying, "There are many differences between the two conflicts, but one stands out above all. The enemy in Vietnam had neither the intent nor the capability to strike our homeland. ... The enemy in Iraq does."
In other words, IM's firepower is greater than that of the former USSR. Right on, dubbyah.

So he is "in denial" to point out that the North Vietnamese lacked the ability to project fire power into the heart of New York and the Pentagon, whereas IM has already shown us that ability??
Ah, I see, he is in denial in denying that with Vietnam american lickspittles of Redrum Soc Inc were highly instrumental undermining the war against the Red Terror, just like with Iraq a current group of lickspittles are for the Green Terror.
he's in denial because the ussr which was linked at the hip with the north viets had real firepower. ie enough firepower to blow up the planet over many times, in contrast with your enemy of the moment who can bring down a building or two on a very good day.
The enemy "at the moment" is IM and its many allied governments, government agencies, and powerful religious leaders, holding sway over 1.3 billion people and the heart of the world's oil reserves. Chumps.
1.3 billion potential terrorists! oh, my.
