Future McCain Cabinet Member

A good cabinet is stocked full of all types of dishes, cups, mugs, and stoneware. Much better than a cabinet stocked full of the same-same-same-same.

Would be great. State or SecDef. Of course AI is gonna say Mitt should be chief of staff. I agree, though I think Mitt should be chief of the janitorial staff.

Fyi, Mitt says he's not interested in admin jobs, would rather sit tight, and wait for the next break. Looks like the smart thing to do, under the circumstances. Thing I still don't understand, though, is all this animosity against him from some quarters. He's a real American success story, why beat up on him?

As for Lieberman, it sure looks like he was auditioning for a Cabinet position. He's almost assured of one if -- and that's a big if -- McCain can get past Obama.

A real success story, AI? His pop was a governor and had run for president. Like they say of W, he was born on third base and stole second.

Sorry, to pick on Mitt and so viciously, but you're not being fair to Palin, so it's after Mitt we shall go a-hunting.

On topic, where's Mitt in here?

I don't buy this "born with a silver spoon, so no matter you do in life, it's bullshit" theory. Yes, it gives one a greatly unfair advantage, but it's by no means a given -- many papa boys turn out to be wrecks. Besides, I'm not of the vicious bent where I'd pour scorn on anyone who doesn't meet my social criteria. Criticizing Mitt on his shifty positions over time -- that's absolutely fair game. Piling up on his silver spoon, or his religion is not. So I 'm sympathetic to him because of this sense of fair play (and because I see him as potentially a competent, dedicated civil servant), not because of any big ideological or personal reasons.

AI, I think it's ok to dislike someone for no reason at all. If there's a fake reason, therefore, that's got to be ok too.

I think Romney has no character and no imagination. That's my feeling. I have never heard him say anything that connected with me except when he quit the race and said he would support McCain because leaving the presidency to Obama would be reckless. That showed ball one and was frankly a shock. Showed class, conviction, and a clear point of view, three things I had not seen from before.

You keep harping on this experience issue regarding Palin. I think that if she is prepared, she will rip Biden a major laceration/evulsion in the anal region in the debates that Romney would never manage.

Reason? Character and background.

Back to the original point, once it has been decided by one of us that someone is distasteful, I would certainly hate to curb that person's creativity when it comes to trashing the one that's distasteful.

I appreciate AA's surrational islamohysterophobic diatribes, mft's dumping on Mormons in Mongolia and Pepe's unfair arguments against US Marines at least as much as I appreciate your continuing chisel in Palin's ankles.

Let's not get into a pissing match over the definition of a real American success story. I am pretty sure that growing up well-off and ending up perhaps better-off is not what's usually meant by that though, yes, Paris Hilton has been disinherited.
