One month after the same story with Jackson Browne, this.
I was under the impression that the respect of individual property was pretty high up among you RWNs - has the dear leader been training in paris suburbs ?

I wonder if you're clear on the concept? What's the law? Do I have to pay those two obese fucktards if I want to play their swinish noise in my house?
Not in your house, but if it's a public event it's the same as a movie: you can't rent a video and play it to a large audience without the approval of the studio. Have ou never sen the pesky FBI warning at the beginning of every movie ?
Wait, the convention was not a public event. Also they didn't charge to get in. I honestly don't know the law. I figured you would since you like make porn for a living.
the convention was not a public event
hmm. The court will decide but I can't imagine how one can preempt someone else's intellectual property for their own benefit (financial or otherwise) without obtaining consent.
If I can get shit for downloading a song from your ipod to my computer, surely this is worse.
We don't know the law, but there is something weird here. If there was a law broken, someone would have gone after the rnc or dnc since the law was broken in front of the world. If this was a tort, then the 'artists' could certainly sue the deep pockets.
Sounds to me that Heart and Jackson Browne and all these other has-beens stand to get more publicity by getting out and denouncing and acting torted when in fact there's no legal wrongdoing. In fact Heart told the repubs to cease and desist but didn't threaten legal action. Maybe because they can't win.
If it were an intellectual property thing, there would be a serious legal problem.
You mean like Jackson Browne suing ?
Just found that. You're right Browne is suing. But look at the suit! He's suing Mac though the TV ad (different than playing a song in a non-public non-profit gathering) but the ad was put together by the Ohio Republican Party. So Mac is out of the loop here. Also, Browne is suing for unspecified damages. I wonder if this means that our stupid sources don't know or if the suit is just a nonsense protest filing.
I don't know the law.
OK, your article says Browne asked for 75k for damaging his reputation (the article I found said unspecified damages). This is not an intellectual property thing then.
look - he's using his song. it's no different than my breaking into your house and using your dildos for my own entertainment.
I'm afraid I must side with Pepe on this one. Hey, Pepe, que pasa? Since you fled Nawlins from Gus, you are starting to make more sense than usual. Looks like Atlanta had some beneficial effect on your logical prowess.
oh, sorry I forgot to fit your misconceptions for a second. Death to America ! Long live Karl Marx! Feel better ?
Yes, Pepe? Are you speechless? By the way, looks like Ike is coming your way. Get ready to skedaddle, once again. Motoring back and forth through the Deep South to Atlanta must be fun.
...or did you mean you usually ask JJ before using his dildos ?
AI just wants to play nicey for a bit. He wouldn't know the law or care.
he doesn't care about the sacro-saint nature of property ? the very cornerstone of capitalism ? what are you saying ?
oh sorry. just go back last night in a crabby mood. nothing personal ai
Keep your powder dry, Pepe. The Ikeman is coming.
Hanna is In, the Ikeman Cometh.
Look at this trajectory of Katrina. Looks like Ike is, at this point, on a similar course.
Should we start a betting pool or something?
