Hearts & minds

The Pentagon survey found that less than half the troops in Iraq thought Iraqi civilians should be treated with dignity and respect.

About 10% of those surveyed said they had actually mistreated Iraqi civilians by hitting or kicking them, or had damaged their property when it was not necessary to do so.

it certainly isn't: aq is fighting the us in iraq with much spill over. it wasn't there before the americans and it has little reason to fight in iraq once you're gone.

Al-Qaeda wasn't fighting in Iraq when Saddam [Hearthrob of Versailles] Ruled. That is so true.
The same astonishing Truth as the BlackWolf not fighting in Germany while Meister of All Vichies Ruled, or the one by which Action Directe failed to attack the Soviet Embassy, Baeder Meinhof the Stazi, or the Red Army the NKNA.
And it is True yet again that if Saddam Deux or Mullah Sadr Rule over Iraqi Terrain the urge for Al-Qaeda to focus its efforts on Iraq will be redirected to the target rich environments the D of PP would prefer IM to aim at. Ya know, the kinda targets which guarantee a rich supply of dead Yanks or rotting stiffs, upper lipped, of sufficiently Anglo connection.
So, is the gist of it that the D of PP now is changing his tune and admitting that the Yanks were right in asserting that by moving into Iraq IM would be focussed on fighting against us on its own turf rather than be able to bring the battle to us?

no, this is idiocy from the administration. at the rate at which americans are inspiring terrorist vocation, aq could very well be battling on both fronts.
