Sarkozy's Apt Apraisal of 60 Minutes...

So is Sarkozy the anti-Pepe, or what? I suppose it's better to tackle that question issue-by-issue.

The Ricains are stooopid! OK, OK, sounds like Pepe, but it's in a different context, and perhaps Sarko had a point when it comes to 60 Minutes.

It was somewhat surprising to read the article which contained some Sarky quotes that were rather positive about America.

Equally strange was the conversation I had last evening with a couple friends who are flag-waving liberals: they admitted that Islam Militant is something to be watched, something more dangerous than Evangelicals.

What the hell is going on around here?

Sarky/Sarko is relatively pro-American. I saw him on French TV, and he talks rather well, pretty direct, which is surprising for a French politico. Too bad his wifey left him cornuto. I hope he finds another girl.

Flag-waving liberals? That sounds close to an oxymoron to me. Maybe there are such people way up there in the Northern Territories, but certainly not around Harvard Square.

Hold on, AI. My fault: flag-waving as in they wave the Liberal Flag. That they wave the Liberal Flag doesn't mean that they practice it.

I've known many people who get in trouble with their friends or significant others here in Dakota for telling the supposed Liberals that they aren't, in fact, "Liberals."

We also have the standard, "It's Bush's Fault!" line that's shouted here and there, but that 5th Column is often ignored and the beer drinking continues.

Funny how the word "Liberal" has basically opposite meanings on the two sides of the pond. Anyone knows when the divergence occured?
