On America vs Slovenia, this is a lot like when the fucking Ecuadorian ref. stole a match from Italy, which were eliminated. Well, except for this little detail. I remember you and the FIFA thinking that was pretty cool, AA.

On Germany missing a penalty: It is beneath us to win on those disgusting and utterly unsportsmanlike giveaways. Better to lose like a man than win like a pussy, kicking the ball into an open goal from 4 feet away. Totally stick-ball.

I watched the 2nd half of England-Algeria. This was one of the best 0-0 I have ever seen.

Medvedev goes Rahmboesque:

“For Russia this situation is a challenge and an opportunity. We are living in a unique time. And we should use it to build a modern, flourishing and strong Russia ... which will be a co-founder of the new world economic order and a full participant in the collective political leadership of the post-crisis world.”

You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.

You never want a Carter presidency to go to waste.

Nope, what you would remember if memory served you well was that the great robbery was SK vs Spain. There was one bad call with Italy, there were three, three fucking egregious take away of goals, against Spain. Now, in general I ululate when a Spaniard comes a cropper, but even their worst enemy would have to admit they were totally jobbed. Italy was jobbed, but the one moment of jobbery has "plausible deniability" built in. A borderline call in that, although on a second look clearly wrong during the flow of the match it was not clear it was wrong.
There was nothing borderline about what happened to Spain, or to the USA yesterday.
I guess FIFA don't need no stinking borders.

Actually, Carter's presidency is a piker compared to Obamakles'. Putin has a true Manchurian Candidate in the White House, and it has never happened before [Carter was just another american leftwing moron], and is unlikely to ever happen again while the USA exists [in democracies, one Calliclean moment is usually enough to bring on the Tyrants]. It really is unique.
A Perfect Storm, and we're on that little boat, stuck next to Marky Mark and Cap'n Slick, with that big huge goddamn wave of History comin' ta send us glugging into the Deep Shit.

I sort of agree that the 0-0 tie was one of the best I've ever seen. But not for the play, which was competent on the side of Algiers and insipid on the part of Limeytopia. The result was the best possible for the US in terms of making sure that we are in control of our fate when we play Algeria. It would have sucked to have to have relied on the kindness of the England-Slovenia match.

Unlike your usual footballing idiocies, Rott, this one has a quick reality check. Algeria will get every chance to "kick our ass" on Wednesday. Let's see what happens.

Mr roT said...

That might not be a check, Prof GerbilStat.

You see, they might have worn themselves out in that sprintfest with England while the USA were just pissing and whining about a slightly questionable call just because of the ref's race.

Crikey, talk about preemptive excuse mongering.
You cast your lot with those magnificent Algerians in their green frickin' muezzins. Now see how far they carry you against the Yanks.

Mr roT said...

Maybe past the Yanks. They have Sepp on their side.

Arelcao Akleos said...

How far you have fallen, Quisling d'Rotter, that you have cast your lot with the minions of The Sepptic One.
