$4.3 million for a stupid pic of a river?

Only in Pepea...

Tecs, remember you're a right-wing nut. Right wing nuts believe the markets set the prices. In Pepea, the politburo does.

Now seriously the unfortunate thing about this is that a C-print will last 20 years or so before colors get out of balance and the image becomes increasingly bad. If it ain't toned silver gelatin (or a pigment print) it's got little shelf life and is unsuitable to be collected.

If that weren't bad enough, the mounting to acrylic (aka plexi) is also a non-conservation process (i.e.: it is non-reversible), and certainly not very archival.

Beautiful image though, as much of Gursky's work. Also interesting in that it is the only non-urban scenes of his that I have seen.
This politburo sez someone got a bad deal (but then someone made a really good one).

In Pepea, it's Versailles who sets the price, would say AA. Have a beef with that?

Pic is not bad, though any dope could take a pic of water flowing under a grey sky, no? Also, note that the pic is really a fake -- Gursky photoshopped it to get rid of unwanted elements, such as dogs or something. Isn't this some kind of fake, then?

Photography is not a sport - there are no rules and there is no such thing as a fake. The image is whatever it is and whatever means used to get to it shouldn't matter in the least bit: the image works or doesn't.

AA would say that, or something else, there are village idiots everywhere that express opinions and loosely derived impressions. As long as I can ignore them, I have no 'beef'.

So very true Charles: "AA would say that, or something else". You have found a sentence that does not lead to a contradiction. Congratulations.

It is Sad that loosely derived expressions are, apparently, the bane of the Peasant class. Who knew that the Gold Piss of the Bleus was an expression loosely derived?
Even Sadder that Aristos, in order to ignore expressions of opinion and expressions loosely derived, must go without their bifteck. Explains their lack of Iron. And without Iron, how can you have Irony? This is tragic.
