Charles J. Amick, a professor of mathematics at the University of Chicago, died Monday at his home in Chicago. He was 39 years old. A 1977 Ph.D. graduate of the University of Cambridge, Dr. Amick joined the faculty at the University of Chicago in 1979, after postgraduate fellowships at St. Johns's College in Cambridge. He was named a professor in 1984.
Too young to die. Still, I don't get the obit. He got his PhD 31 yaers ago, at age 8? And became a prof at U. Chicago at age 15? Rather precocious...
The Times keeps obits on file, so the top date shows the date you make the link to the file[ say June 26,2008] and just above the article it will show the original date [say, June 8, 1991]. Charles died of his brain tumor in early June, 1991.
