Horn called 911 and told the dispatcher he had a shotgun and was going to kill the men. The dispatcher pleaded with him not to go outside, but Horn confronted the men with a 12-gauge shotgun and shot both in the back.
I don't have much sympathy for burglars, but this is beyond the pale.

Absolutely.
He should have shot them in the chest.
I'm with AA here.
Why should he have killed them ?
Darwin
there's nothing like a murderer to make a burglar look good.
that's not murder. you may not like it but it's not murder. murder is what those goddamned colombians would've committed if they had had the chance.
you don't know that. but deciding before hand that he's going to kill them without knowing how much of a threat they represent, that's pretty much dictionary definition of premeditated murder.
No, that's self defense. If he were to wait for them to tell him of the quality of "honorable" in their intentions, that would be suicide.
As JJ said, Darwin.
self-defense implies a threat. this is everything but self-defense: this guy was in his living room. the article says nothing about them threatening him. he is a self-righteous cow-boy who decided to have a good time and did it in the only place on the planet where he could get away with it.
Look, by that same token you might as well argue for shooting jay-walkers. They constitute a threat to traffic, and their actions can potentially kill dozens of drivers and their passengers.
