Beyond Bougrab and Erdogan is mer Ballast
They both, one in clear dismay and the other in smug approval, state there is no moderate Islam. But is there a solution to be found in the "Bad Muslim", the one who has lost the faith beyond moderation and just doesn't give a flying shit about the religion? Yeah, sure, right, as much as the solution to Hitler was found in those who just didn't give a flying shit about politics and ideology.

And Bush saying “Islam is peace” shortly after 9/11 gave the enemy a gift they couldn’t have foreseen. Here was the one man who was charged to defend America from their attack and here he was defending the very ideology that motivated the attackers.
Strong words.
Yes, but they're excessive too.
No, they are not. Lying to the American people as to the nature of our enemy, and giving unto Islam what Islam demands of the infidel, crippled and blinded us from the start.
Our defeat, and it is by now on the verge of total defeat, traces back to that decision of monumental stupidity by the Bush administration.
Nature of the enemy nature of the schmemeny. All enemies are of the same nature; they want to kill us. Having Allah behind it makes it scarier to people that don't understand missiles.
Enemies have will to differing degrees and religion is a good spur. It is also a handicap because irrationality makes for poor effectiveness among the strategists.
There's nothing special about Islam. The Germans and Russians were a lot more formidable, unencumbered as they were with superstition. They were also happy to sacrifice their own for their "principles" and so on.
All this fixation of yours and Tecs' is reminiscent of their own superstition and kind of laughable.
Vergil says they can because they think they can. Yeah, let's see them get beyond the WTC then; they've had a long time. Just kill them with a smile on your face, saying they're basically good guys, and you'll be done with them in a while.
Mr "Metternich" Rot pontificates from inside the gates of Vienna on the existential threat Western Civ faces, pooh-poohing the danger. Well, why not step out of the cocoon where you're in for a minute, and look out the gates? Maybe you'll see something.
AA: yes, that initial mistake of colossal proportions has "crippled and blinded us from the start", as you say. To wit: Mr Rot is still blinded.
I am on a lot of cortisone. I suggest a lot of caution when you take my advice.
As if on cue, the mullahs set to prove Mr Rot wrong.
Why shouldn't they? We're enemies.
That's the point, Herr Rott, the clerics of Islam are our enemies.
I think Herr Rott more-or-less grasps that concept, at least on a skin-deep level. But what's almost impossible for him to grasp (and, of course, totally impossible for Charly) is the gravity of that threat.
It's like expecting Mr Rot to understand that having tens of millions crossing illegally the border poses a problem, even a tiny-weenie one. Not gonna happen.
