Sigh, says Tecs: Romney says that the "rates are lower than they otherwise would be" according to this. That's an item for further debate, but premium rates in Massachusetts are the highest in the nation and double the national average. They have increased dramatically since his plan passed - he really believes they would be even higher without it?
So who pays up? I'll let Mr Rot figure that one out.
Coulter is not Tea Party, Tecumseh, but very much a DC figure. She has fun with rhetoric, and likes to get in the face of people, but the substance of her views are probably no more away from the GOP Roveans than are those of Bill O'Reilly. In short, don't confuse her style with her [policy] substance.
By the way, Tecumseh, the Des Moines Register, if I remember rightly, went for Obama in the general election. I do believe that tells you much as to why they would like to list Romney for the GOP.
DMR: Hah, I'd forgotten that. Here is their record: The publishers strongly supported Republican Wendell Willkie's 1940 presidential campaign against Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt. The newspaper also supported Republican Dwight Eisenhower's campaigns for the Republican nomination and general election in 1952, and again in 1956. Although the Register endorsed presidential candidates Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964, Hubert Humphrey in 1968, and Jimmy Carter in 1976, it endorsed Richard Nixon in 1960 and 1972. In December 2007, two weeks before the 2008 Iowa caucuses, the Register endorsed Hillary Rodham Clinton (in the Democratic caucuses) and John McCain (in the Republican caucuses). In October 2008, the Register endorsed Barack Obama for president in the general election.
Not the New Hampshire Union Leader, by any stretch, but then again, not The NY Times, either...
Coulter: Maybe she's Tea Party, maybe not -- but why would that be the sole criterion by which to judge her credentials to speak on the matter?
Also, anyone who writes books like Demonic, Treason, Slander, etc, that drive pinkos up the walls in epileptic fits, I wouldn't call such a woman a squishy RINO.
That's not to say I'm a big fan of Coulter. In a way, her critique of Newt ("speak bombastically and carry a tiny stick") applies to her, as well -- at least in many circumstances. Isn't that what "projection" is meant to mean? But, all in all, I'd rather be on her good side than on her bad side: she does carry a sharp tongue!

Herr Rott, Herr Rott. Remember Fall 2008, when you wouldn't as much countenance uttering BHO's middle name?
Flip-flopping turned into a fine art.
Apparently you've gropn a soft spot for Obama.
I'm just being constant, as always -- you're the one bouncing up and down and sideways, like sin(1/x) as x approaches 0.
Tecs' constant: Pinkoness way past Romney.
Bittersweet analysis -- and punchline.
Mr Rot -- are you left with grasping at straws, and quoting from your bête noire, Andy McCarthy, in order to prop your case? Jeez.
Tecs "Rot" deVoorhies VII deeply conflicted.
Gutless pinko fruits. Time to close up shop.
