Kristol is trying to be nice to your gal. But you know, and I know, and he knows, that she's finished politically after pulling this stunt. Tell me again, why did she abandon her post in midstream?

Kraut takes the middle-of-the-road approach. I hope you'll agree with him at least that she's out of the picture for 2012. I mean, she can run if she wants, but I don't see how she can make any kind of positive case after her incoherent drop-out speech.

Steyn, Kraut and Taranto hit it right more than anyone else on almost everything, and Palin is no exception.

Why would she get out? Quite possibly it's impossible to do her job now that the confederacy of dunces are arrayed against her.

She's been declared public enemy #1 by every know it all around, as even fruity Douthat says.

I'll grant you that. But then, why not stay and duke it out, and hopefully accomplish something, instead of showing herself a quitter? Bad move. Politics 101, mon cher.

Checkers...

Checkers speech? What the heck do you mean? That was in 1952, in the middle of a successful campaign. Perhaps you're thinking of the "You won't have Nixon to kick around anymore" speech from 1962 (ten years difference). But by then Nixon had 15 years of public service, as Congressman and Senator from California, and then VP. He also knew a ton of stuff about national affairs. No comparison, Mr Rot. Only a VCP for me.

You Nixonophiles get touchy when one errs in discussing your One.

Sorry, Spiro.
