One would think that, with so much philosophical overlap between social conservatives and the saudis, in terms of passing moral judgment and pushing efforts at regulating private behavior, you'd be lip-locked, tongues out and all. Death penalty, anti-gay, anti-abortion, anti-feminist agenda, you name it, it's two flavors of the same food. Conservatives try and pick up the pieces by arguing that a taco isn't at all the same thing as a burrito. But the affinities aren't lost on the US administration which turns a blind eye on the questionable behavior and showers its oriental clone with weapons and aid.

But then 9/11 happened. No more roses and playing mariachi under the windows of the middle-eastern aziz. We all know how a spurned lover sent home seething to bad-mouth his former muse looks.; 11/03/2011 8:11 AM
