A hypothetical

Had the neocons focused on afghanistan rather than invade iraq, would ahmadinejad be in the position to thumb his nose at the int'l community today?

I don't know, Pepe. Looks like Tehran was going to develop — ahem — peaceful nuclear technology anyhow. Maybe you could write a supermarket novel with this hypothetical.

sure, but now that the us is spread thin & bogged down left & right, there is no one to dissuade them from doing so. With saddam gone, there is also no more balance of power.

Pepe, the U.S. isn't "spread thin." Whatever the current population of America is — right now — can be construed as our domestic/civilian National Guard. Abroad, the American military is doing exactly what a military is supposed to be doing.

Still, I propose we call for another U.N. Resolution that again condemns Tehran's pursuit of nuclear capabilities.

mft - do you really think congress would call a draft for a war against iran?

I'm not talking about a draft for any kind of war. I was merely referring to the many Americans and that nifty little Second Amendment in regards to a quasi-national guard (in the original, historical even proto-Plattsburg Movement sense). My apologies for not being that specific.

As far as war against Iran goes: no, I doubt there'll be yet another war. But really, I don't have a direct line into Bush's psyche like you do.

Before the world again gets serious about neo-con Islam (which you don't seem too bothered with), Bush will have to be out of office first, and second, the neo-con Islam Militants will have to kill more of us civilians here in the West.
