And that's the problem: Only a handful of people on the left — and far too few liberals — see radical Islamists as a bigger threat than George W. Bush.

Jonah Goldberg is smoking pot -- name one, just one flaming pinko leftie who thinks RI > W as an existential threat to civilization as we know it, and I'll eat crow.

0 is far too few, no?

Well, OK, maybe there are one or two somwhere, roaming the streets of Cambridge or Berkeley in a daze, but can you name 1 more-or-less notable lefty who supports the US in the War on Terror?

0 is even fewer than one. That's not the point of my post. The post is about this fearless willingness a la AA to root for people that will get us all into deeper trouble in defense of some higher principle. Here Steyn notes that the Dems really don't have a clue. They are not to be trusted with taking the helm of the WOT. If they get hit as Goldberg puts up as a possibility, it is not clear they will awaken and react correctly. It is more likely that the Dems will argue that they were right all along to capitulate and blame any attack on the current good-faith attempt to democratize the middle east.

Stalin still might be a bit too centrist for you, Pepe.

JJ: Cogent analysis. You need to expound on this, I think you are on to something. Maybe even a Molson lite?
