Its location makes it iffy. It is a region where sunni's, when Afghanistan was under the Taliban, has violent confrontations with the Republican guard, including actual besieging of towns which had revolted. So it would seem that this is part of that simmering unrest. On the other hand, that doesn't mean some CIA type didn't think it cute to stick his finger in the pot. My bet, for now,is no. That this is just another instance that reminds us shiite and sunni have an historical argument that comes vividly alive whenever the issue is who will live subordinate to whom. My bet is that the same whahab finded types who try to blow us up try to fight on all fronts. The Saudis after all are very very suspicious and even hateful about and towards Iran... I would like to think that if the CIA was involved in black ops against Iran, it would be to do useful things. Like blowing up nuke research centers or otherwise scarifying the ayatollah's. Adding a little ping to an already raucous affair in southeast Iran ain't going to scarify any ayatollah...we'll see.
Steyn lately has been pushing the ideaof destabilizing Syria and Iran as a thank you for their work in Iraq. The destabilizations he suggests would be of course helping out existing separatist groups or encouraging them somehow. I think this is dangerous business given the new ideals of "he may be our OSB but he's an SOB" but perhaps Ahmadinejad and Assad (AA?) plus the Democrats give this as an only alternative.

It's possible.....
I admit to having no confidence this administration has the cojones for such a determined plan....
Wait till Hillary-Obama are in...
Until proof to the contrary, I'll file this under "Darwin alert!"

With John Murtha as SecDef? Oh, joy.
...even if it was some type of special forces Imperialist operation (from SAS to SEALs), I don't seem to care if we ever find out.
