Pepe, when bloodshed happens in New Orleans, do you fault D.C., or the Louisiana politicians? The problem itself -- in Iraq -- is a manifestation of different nations and levels of government not working towards a common cause.

When you make comments like that (equal to what Limbaugh and O'Reilly and Moore and Franken spout off), you lose me. Good luck with all of it.

mft - the criminality here is fueled by the unwillingness of the feds to rebuild and the resulting homelessness, combined with the mind-boggling absence of vision & leadership from the local govt. This is not about govt handouts like jj states: the levees broke bc the army corps of engineers didn't build up to the standards on the specs, a practice that reeks of corruption.

At the very least, appropriate funds ought to be dispensed to make up for federal mistakes and build the levees to code this time. Instead, we see hundreds of billions wasted in a poorly conceived war in which the US
is digging itself deeper every day while one of america's culturally richest cities is left to abandonment.
