Taranto gazes at Planet Pepe

Do journalists unthinkingly side with America's enemies? Consider this Associated Press headline on a Baghdad dispatch: "U.S. Troop Deaths Show Sunni Resilience." Can you imagine the AP or any other "mainstream" news outlet using the same headline in reverse: "Sunni Deaths Show U.S. Troops' Resilience"? We didn't think so.

There is a difference though - the US is going in, full marketting mode hyping up a brand-spanking new plan. Hence the scoffing on the part of the AP when the shit hits the fan. The sunnis aren't strutting around beating their chests and marvelling at their new big chief's feathers.

What is this verbal diarhhea? The US is going in, full killing AQ mode. Period. Got a problem with that?

You're right, Pepe. They don't need to: Allah is on their side! Why you never speak of Evangelists in America this way is just another one of your Ameriphobic undercurrents.

To me, both groups are hillarious because they are so absurd. Why not to you?

Fighting the bad guys is not "making fool of themselves". Surrendering ignominously to every Tom, Dick, and Harry that comes down the pike is. But I don't expect a Versaillist to comprehend such a deep concept -- it's like expecting a 2-year old to grasp the representation theory of the E_8 group.

Darkroom,

Of course, the main difference between an Evangelist and a Jihadist is that the former Righteously comes after you with the Old and New Testament while the latter with a scimitar or box cutters.

of course it isn't. "Making fools of themselves" is strutting like a rooster among a herd of hens announcing "shock and awe" and "cakewalks" and being in the end bogged down indefinitely by a bunch of hoodlums armed with firecrackers. It is the mind-boggling contrast between hype and reality that brings ridicule.
