On his theme, did you guys know that Daniel Lewin (who co-founded Akamai with his advisor, Tom Leighton, while a grad student at MIT) was on AA Flight 11 on 9/11? Here's the story:

According to flight attendants Madeline Sweeney and Betty Ong, who contacted American Airlines during the hijacking, the hijackers had stabbed flight attendants Karen Martin and Barbara Arestegui and slashed the throat of passenger Daniel Lewin. Lewin, an Internet entrepreneur, had served as an officer in the elite Sayeret Matkal special operations unit of the Israeli military. Lewin was seated in 9B, and Suqami was directly behind him in 10B. The 9/11 Commission suggested that Suqami may have stabbed and killed Lewin after he attempted to stop the hijacking.

I knew this... I even read some Huffpo guy, a few years ago, who said that Lewin was a Mossad agent and that this was proof that the Neokkkons were behind 9/11.
Pepe claims that any Nom de Plume is an alternative reality he ain't responsible for.
But his Planet is.

I didn't know the story -- just found out. If you gotta go, better to go out fighting than cowering.

Speaking of conspiracy theories, remember Thierry Meyssan? Here's an update on this guy:

On August 22, 2011, Meyssan while stuck at the Rixos Hotel in Tripoli, reported live, by voice, to the Russian program Russia Today. Stating that contrary to most reports, Gaddafi forces had driven the rebels from most of the city. At the same time he described that he felt he was in danger, accusing all of his fellow journalists of being spies from the CIA and the MI6, since he felt that he was the only journalist trapped at the Rixos that seemed to be reporting first-hand knowledge of who was winning the battle for Tripoli.

That same day, Meyssan reported that Western agents, disguised as journalists at the Rixos hotel (as he had previously indicated) had marked him for assassination and that escape routes in the city had been blocked to prevent him from fleeing. Stating that the identities of these spies would be released in due course.

The meds, Pepe. The meds!

Meyssan also believes the Beslan massacre was thought out and perpetrated by the CIA, through the terrorist leader Shamil Basayev, who Meyssan insists was a CIA strawman. The purpose of the massacre in Beslan had been, claims Meyssan, an attempt by the USA to gain control of the resources of the Caspian Sea.

You're having a bad hair day, Pepe. Try to relax. I recommend Ginseng tea.

Ahh, Meyssan. Wonderful to know that the French Baghdad Bob is alive and well...

Incidentally, you've really gotta check out this guys titles in the "Works" section of the wiki article.

This is wonderful.

In a different vein, here is a guy from FIRE musing on academia's response to 9/11.

Remembering Pepea's reaction that day.

Similar from Princetonea.

Krugman is a mean, bitter, little man. Why would anyone listen to him?

Mr roT said...

I would go further. Krugman has crossed an important line here, putting himself in a class with Van Jones and those thugs.

Just my opinion.

Totally politically incorrect to even suggest that the bushites might have used 9/11 as a pretext to push a war on iraq agenda on a terrified nation that didn't know the zagros from the hindu kush from the mariana trench.
