Maybe that's because Perry has the same kind of trouble with logical implications: he professed he was “offended” at the suggestion he would sell out for a $5,000 donation—apparently not understanding the implication that there was a price at which he might well sell out.
More importantly, though, he seems to think he can wing these debates by referring to what he did in Texas here and what he did in Texas there. That is insufficient not just when it comes to giving voters a chance to judge him by the policy choices he might make; it’s insufficient because it suggests he thinks he can get away without getting specific and demonstrating a command of national and international issues.

A refreshing moment of Tecs-ian lucidity.
We'll see what's sufficient and what's not. All it took was for Obama to stare blankly upward during a financial crisis for Tecs to decide that he was more competent than McCain.
US voters are idiots; what candidates do is irrelevant.
Not competent--cool. Mac was just flailing about, like a chicken crossing the road. But yes, behind that blank stare there was nothing.
Now, how about Perry? These guys make a good point. He still sounds like a regional candidate, just talking about his own backyard, like a hillbilly. Has no clue how this sounds on a national scale.
He sounded much better on paper, before he started opening his mouth. Shoulda kept munching on that hot dog that Charly so much liked.
