Previously I tried to get some talk from you guys about the Republicans' chances for president. Here's Giuliani's problem; there are ideologically overpure elements on the Right that will prevent him from being Natiional dogcatcher. McCain likely has similar problems. Are we stuck with Hillary-Obama in '08? Gross. More. And more of AI's allies here.

Is that so? Surely the set you describe is non-empty, but does it consist of more than some random extras from Deliverance? I'd say almost everyone agrees Rudi was a great mayor of New York -- one of the great US mayors of all time, I'd say. Now, is this enough to get him elected to the Presidency? Here I'm not sure, especially after he chickened out of running for the NY Senate seat against Hillary a few years back. That, more than anything else he's done or said since then has greatly diminished his Presidential stock in my eyes. If anyone can explain to me why he should be trusted to take on Hillary (and/or Obama) in 2008 after that previous cheese-eating-surrender-monkey episode, I'll listen.
Put your money where your mouth is on two counts: First, I'd like to see the surrender mode you suggest existed. Simply that he decides not to run against Hillary means he's soft on the WOT? Odd logic you have there. Second, if you're not for Giuliani, you must be backing a Dem or what amounts to the same thing, McCain. Or have you gone all the way to courageous Hagel?

Mft, I think he's the best person I've heard is interested in the presidency, but I really don't think he has a chance. There are the AAs and AIs that doubt his ideological purity, there are the lefties and xenophobes against him too. More likely we'll have a zero like Hillary win. Then AA and AI will be happy as clams because it won't be while their guy is on watch that the country goes to Hell.

I don't judge Guiliani as hard for failing to challenge Hillary as AI seems to. If I remember correctly, the Mayor had been diagnosed with prostate cancer, and since he had it at a relatively young age it was particularly dangerous. Maybe he felt need to aim at full recovery, and enjoy life a little, rather than spend his last days mano a mano with Sir Hillary?
I assume that now he can consider running because his doctors have assured him he is cured [as much as cancer can be] ??

If I could consider voting for Kerry in 2004, and would have if McCain had been on the ticket, and since Kerry is very much Democrat and McCain is, in JJ's eyes, "what amounts to the same thing", what sort of ideological purity are ya blabberin' about? 3rd: Elaboration on Rudy: I'm really not bothered by Rudy's pro-choice stance, or his views on same-sex marriage. I've never known anyone (personally at least) to conduct the former, and those who do have to live with having slaughtered a child. Of course decent people are against this practice. I don't need some law to solidify — one way or the other — what I already believe.
As far as same-sex marriage, I just don't feel the relationship between my baby and I is threatened because two homos or lesbos want to sanctify their own relationship. Maybe it's because I'd rather read alone, what I want, on Sunday morning than attend mass and have some priest or preacher tell me what shitbags all of us really are. I really wonder about Captain Moral who thunders against all of this stuff... is it because Captain Moral is afraid that, if it were legal, he'd engage in baby killing and butt sex (note: see that Colorado dude)...

We are treeated to a politically relevant reason we should shun Giuliani in favor of (I guess) McCain--a vivid description of partial birth abortion that Giuliani says he opposes now, cf. the Fox interview I also linked to.
