Wobbly on his feet

.. like Rot after one too many shots of schnapps mixed with ouzo and tequila.

Perry is viewed with suspicion by some in the Republican base because he opposes a border fence, opposes the E-verify system to make employers check whether new hires are in this country legally, supports in-state tuition for illegal immigrants, and favors a guest-worker program.

Perry=Obama=Patrick=Rot on this one.

By that point, Perry had become a candidate the voters did not see in last week's debate at the Reagan Library. He was at times hesitant, forced off his game by Romney, Bachmann, Paul, and Santorum.

I thought he's 10 feet tall, no?

At any given moment, Newt Gingrich is capable of taking control of the debate, displaying a deeper knowledge of government than anyone on stage, and focusing the conversation to the Republicans' chief goal, the defeat of Barack Obama. While the other candidates fight with each other, Gingrich reminds everyone that for the GOP, Obama is the problem. It's not a way to win the nomination, but Gingrich the candidate is coming into his own as a guiding voice in the debates. Plagued by missteps early in his campaign, Gingrich is fast recovering his reputation through his performances at the podium.

Good for him. Of course, Rot thinks Newt is an idiot. He may be an S.O.B., and not vey likable, but he's not an idiot, pace Rot.

Seriously, Mr Rot, why would Perry attack Social Security as unconstitutional (a highly dubious proposition, given the 74-year stare decisis), and not go after the constitutionality of Obamacare -- much more of a slam-dunk case?

Not good politics, methinks. And potentially very damaging to the GOP brand, as Ike warned, many years ago -- but of course, you never listen.

Seriously Tecs, how do you put a fence on the river?

"Fence" is just a shorthand. However it's done, it should prevent this kind of shit from happening.

Are you for pirates randomly shooting Americans on Falcon Lake, just for the fun of it? I'm not. What is Perry doing to stop this kind of shit? I think it's a legitimate question to ask.

I am all in favor of random shootings, Tecs. You know me.

Romney, Bachmann, or Gingrich would ruin all that because they don't like murder like Perry does.

That's why I like Perry better.

Well, somehow I never hear you complain about the random shootings of Americans along the border. It's like, well, it's one of those things, get used to it, it's a law of nature.

The difference is that I don't see this is as one of those things we need to put up with, like ingrown nails or something. It's the most fundamental duty of a President to protect life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Its a fair question to ask during a campaign. If all Perry can say about this is what you tell him to say (which is basically what he said at the debate in Tampa), he won't do too well.

You never rail against cervical cancer. Therefore you're in favor of it.

Tecumseh said...

Mercifully, it doesn't affect me, so why should I rail against it. But of course I'm all for finding a cure to that - I hate cancer.

And mercifully, the zetas shooting up everyone in sight on the border doesn't affect me personally -- in large part since I stay away from said border (closest I ever got to it was Phoenix, once). But the thought of having that kind of shit going on and on, without any kind of concerted effort to stop it, makes me sick to my stomach. I just cannot be cool with it, like you are--sorry.

Some background info on Los Zetas, in case you haven't payed attention to them:

Los Zetas are led by Heriberto "El Lazca" Lazcano and are considered by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) as the most violent drug cartel and paramilitary enforcement group in Mexico. They have carried out multiple massacres and terrorist attacks on civilians, such as the 2011 Monterrey casino attack, where 52 people were killed, the 2010 Tamaulipas massacre, where 72 migrants were found dead, the 2011 Tamaulipas massacre, where 193 people were killed, the massacre of 27 farmers in Guatemala, and the 2008 Morelia grenade attacks, where 8 were killed and over 100 were injured. In addition, sources reveal that Los Zetas may also be responsible for the death of 249 people at the 2011 Durango massacres and for the 2010 Puebla oil pipeline explosion, which killed 28 people, injured 52, and damaged over 115 homes.
[..]
Los Zetas are primarily based in the border region of Nuevo Laredo, with hundreds more throughout the country. In Nuevo Laredo it is believed they have carved the city into territories, placing lookouts at arrival destinations such as airports, bus stations and main roads. In addition to conducting activities along the border, they are visible throughout the Gulf Coast region, in the Southern states of Tabasco, Yucatan, Quintana Roo, and Chiapas, and in the Pacific Coast states of Guerrero, Oaxaca, and Michoacán, as well as in Mexico City. Evidence also indicates that they may be active in Texas, other U.S. states and in Italy with the 'Ndrangheta.
