Glorious!
For the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback. Before, it reminded me of a hellish scene from Hieronymus Bosch, via Taranto.

College entrance exams: uniquely American, uniquely hellish
"You cannot measure the success of a child by a single test. And if that were the case, I wouldn’t be here, because I was not a good test taker. How many kids do you know who are like me?"
So how did she get into Princeton and Harvard if she flunked all those tests?
Is that a legit quote? I bet she did the usual 20% lower and got in for PR reasons. It certainly is so that the last section of her senior thesis at Princeton was pathetic.
Yep. Second paragraph.
I wonder how poorly she did. I probably should have applied to Princeton and claimed some ethnical shite.
Coulda, shoulda. C'mon, JJ, be a mensch, and take it on the chin. Michelle beat you to Princeton fair and square.
Probably, and you too!
Great site, that one of Mich-Hell. I want a copy of that Bosch job.
Actually, I tried to apply to Princeton (and a few other places, such as Hahwahd) way back when, before I even set foot on this continent. But they didn't even look at my application, said it was past the deadline, come back later. Only when I did set foot in the Big Apple could I go to some local community college, where I could sweet-talk them, and let them admit me, even though it was way past the official deadline. So I got a break, too, I must admit; otherwise (if it had been up to Princeton), I woulda gone back to the old continent, and missed on the U.S. of A., almost surely.
That's an interesting story, AI. Community colleges have probably done more to help those truly in need than the Ivies since the beginning of time.
