NCG's Higgs mass prediction is off. Oh well.

You sound disappointed, JJ. I had not taken you for a Connes'man.

This is physicky nonsense. I know of Higgs bundles, but what the heck is the "Higgs mass prediction"? I predict Joe Biden's mass will multiply by a factor of 1.2 in the coming days, with all those gasses in his bag dilating like crazy. Is that it?

Some math crank called his gay-ass bundles Higgs bundles so some grant board would think he was doing something important, i.e. Physics.

AA, qft needs a success.

AI, you remind me of something I read in a biography of von Neumann. He was bored with people telling him what a genius he was all the time so his friend Ulam would do the opposite.
When von Neumann would show him a new paper or just a theorem, Ulam would always shit on it saying, "What's that compared to E=mc²?"

The Higgs mechanism (spontaneous symmetry breaking) describes how elementary particles acquire mass, a property of matter that everyone perceives. To compare the importance of such an idea to some math paper is not a great idea for the math side.

Particles have mass? No shit. Math is better.

Carlos Simpson speaks. BTW, his name sounds Argentine. Or from the Bronx.
