Obama's excellent adventure in Europe! Tackier than a costume change at a Madonna concert! POWWW!
Outsiders and Insiders
Recently Pepe understandably wondered whether bringing "outsiders" into D.C. mattered. Of course, it matters quite a bit. Here's a local story that took place this morning, and perhaps it can shed some light on why it's necessary to keep people moving through the various levels of government: get in, be a Public Servant, and then get out. The story below:
It'll go down in the Burleigh County [North Dakota] Top Ten for Quickest Removal of a Jurist: something about knowing and being intimate friends with the Defense Attorney's family for the last 15 years. Fucking trumped up gibberish if you ask me.
When the defense attorney and I greeted each other when he first entered the court (Burleigh County Court Room 303), I figured the other Jurists were on to us. I thought, "I wonder how long this is gonna last..." I heard someone in the hall way say, "Yeah, he's close friends with the defense attorney's kids. Both attorneys agree that there's no sense in keeping him here any longer..." Two seconds later a lady entered the room and called out my name. I said, "Yup," got up, and walked out.
There's a Good Old Boy Network in the Dakotas, but nothing like it is in D.C. It's good to see Burleigh County does what they can to filter it, if not a bit.
Here's to my Civic Duty with The Criminal Justice System.

Legal Haters on Palin
This article fails to address how the cost for goods is inflated in Alaska as compared with the 48 continuous. You'll find similar price hikes in the U.S. Virgin Islands, as most goods are shipped or flown in.
Future McCain Cabinet Member
A good cabinet is stocked full of all types of dishes, cups, mugs, and stoneware. Much better than a cabinet stocked full of the same-same-same-same.
Doogan on Palin
Palin's time as governor has been a mixed bag. She deserves high marks for moving the possibility of a gas pipeline forward. But most of the work on oil taxes was done by the legislature. Ditto with ethics reform. And her role in killing the ballyhooed "Bridge to Nowhere"? Turns out that she was for it before she was against it, and that, well, she kept the money anyway.
Add to this a growing sense that the state government isn't running all that well: commissioners and key staffers jumping or being pushed. The operating budget growing 10 percent a year. Policy problems such as high energy costs being papered over with cash giveaways. The governor and her aides being investigated by the legislature. You can see why it's not clear she's a competent governor of Alaska, let alone qualified to take over the reins of the national government.

In that same questionnaire, she was asked if she supported funding for abstinence-until-marriage education instead of "explicit sex-education programs."
"The explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support," she said.
Vote McCain if you must, but don't complain if it's becoming impossible to get a decent blowjob.

Obama in '08 Or Else!
But just because his ancestors never wore shackles, and he has paid off the student loans from his elite education doesn't mean he doesn't have compassion. Or that he doesn't understand the pain of those who live in dire poverty, who've lost their homes, who want yet can't afford college, and who lack health insurance. His acceptance speech indicated that, unlike McCain, Obama gets it because hard times aren't so far behind him that his memory's been erased. If McCain wins, look for a full-fledged race and class war, fueled by a deflated and depressed country, soaring crime, homelessness - and hopelessness!
Cohen hilarious
"So she has a lot of interesting background. And she has a lot of experience. Remember that, when people worry about how inexperienced she is, for two years she's been in charge of the Alaska National Guard." [said Gingrich]
It's a pity Gingrich was not around when the Roman Emperor Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, better known by his nickname Caligula, reputedly named Incitatus as a consul and a priest. Incitatus was his horse.

Risky business
As I keep saying, conservative candidates are supposed to be the old and trusty guys -- the safe bet. Pinkos are the risky guys, the ones gambling with our hard-earned money. Right? So how come Mac is the reckless one, squandering the only built-in advantage of the Republican brand (built over the last, oh, three decades) in these times of trouble? Said a Republican veteran shortly after the announcement: "Reckless." Precisely.

Blessed Be The Decapitators, little Sister.
From Jihad Watch:
"Angola - Girl Decapitated In Attack By Muslim Extremists":
Muslim extremists recently attacked the Christian community in the town of Andulo. In an horrific incident, the school-age daughter of a deacon at one of the churches was decapitated. Forty believers were assaulted or tortured, and one of them needed 20 stitches in his head. The mob burned three church buildings. They also went to believers’ houses to intimidate them and damaged or destroyed items of property. Stones were thrown at the headquarters of a local Christian project, causing some damage.
Commenting to Barnabas Fund, an Angolan Christian leader said that the local police were unable to stop the attack and fled the scene, and the government seems reluctant to take action against Muslims, perhaps because it believes that Muslim aid is valuable to the nation. The community in Andulo is confused and disturbed, not least because they had believed what the Muslims told them: that Islam is a peaceful religion and that Muslims and Christians are brothers and sisters, worshipping the same God....
Spencer then says:
Anyone who believes that who then notices the large number of violent Islamic attacks around the world will ultimately become confused and disturbed.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hah, Spencer, meet Le Pew. Monsieur Pepe is both a rapid RoPer and sleeps undisturbed. How does he manage this remarkable feat? By somehow never noticing the large number of violent Islamic attacks around the world. But, you say, ultimately he must? Ah, that's a good one, Mr. Spencer. You see, Versailles has perceived that if you postpone reckoning to "ultimately", well then, you have a good chance of already being dead and so will not give a crap about any reckoning that comes knocking on the gates.
Skillets and Such

For whatever reason, I set out on an afternoon mission to find and purchase a reasonably priced cast iron skillet. I located a perfect model: the only taint on the otherwise great find was that it's a Bobby Flay design. Not that the design is bad, though. The design is great. It's that there's a "BF" in the handle, the initials of that culinary hack, Bobby Flay. I've since decided to re-christen my cast iron skillet, though, and I now refer to it as the Big Fucker. I don't even have to take the original initials out with the bench grinder. I used the Big Fucker this evening to first skillet a sirloin, and once that was done, and while letting the sirloin rest, I sauteed some onion, green pepper, fresh ginger, garlic, pineapple chunks, and peanuts in the steak juice and vegetable oil. I just wiped the Big Fucker out with a paper towel when through, and there it sits ready for the next use. The other development in the kitchen: a large chopping-block area. I built the bench this past Friday. It's working out great. I want to have a Portuguese theme some weekend evening over here. And I can't stop thinking about Goa.
Fou-doux fafa
Apologies if I have already posted this but it is too good to pass if i haven't.

What's a Good Multi-Culti Pomo Planet Pepeteer to Say?

Nothing. Nada. Diddlysquat. It's an authentic expression of a non-Western tradition, and as such, unlike those eeeeveeeeeel Baby Jaysus freakazoids, must be treated with respect and understanding. So, go ahead Islam Militant, slaughter innocents to your hearts content. You, unlike the hapless Mr. Summers, "get it".
