Hmmm... maybe get rid of the Spengler value system, and instead of looking at it as the Decline of the West, think of it as merely "heading in a different direction."

JJ: what about Islamic law? Doesn't it say no to ouzo?

Ouzo is awful enough so that Islamic prohibitions on it wouldn't worry me in the slightest. Same for Retsina, no matter how damned cold it is.

I think Mogo's problem with booze is that all he could get was from "Rum" as he called Byzantine, mispronouncing "Rome."
