Very Nice Obit. The only time I heard Pavarotti in person was when the Three Tenors made a stop by Taipei in the late 90s. They held the concert at night, in the floodlit spaces of the vastly beautiful "Chiang Kai Shek Memorial". [ a stunning monument to a pig of a man....but that's another rant ]. Must have been at least 200,000 of us there. I was surprised at how deeply attentive and emotional the Taiwanese were to the music....but then China has a long history of opera in its own right. I wonder how long the opera houses stand once most of Europe is like Brussels.
