Just another story on us bumpkins out here in Po-Dunk Land at our state universities in the American West, uninformed about the world and global events because we prefer to go cow tipping on the weekends -- at least when we're not harvesting the crops for the world (AI, I couldn't resist).

Sum taught at Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania
Doesn't Kayla go to Babes & Balls University? I met one of that place's alumnae once. I didn't have a cluj howda pokeher.
JJ, don't quote me, but I think it was The University of Babes-Balls-Boobs-Beer. The core cirriculum is the same as the school you're referring to though.
Yeah, Pepe tells me the core curriculum is rigorous, hard, and penetrating.
It fills a gap in Pepe's background, which is not all its cracked up to be.
Actually, Bolyai was one of the co-inventors of non-Euclidean geometry (together, yet independently of Lobachevsky). Of course, he wasn't given much credit: upon learning of his discovery, Gauss said he knew it all eons before, but had not bothered to publish it:
I regard this young geometer Bolyai as a genius of the first order.
To praise it would amount to praising myself. For the entire content of the work ... coincides almost exactly with my own meditations which have occupied my mind for the past thirty or thirty-five years.
Although I don't know much about this particular case, AI, it does raise questions about our notions of how we view the written word as more important than stored memory/oral history. I think it's partly because, in this latter case, stored memory is only accessible to the individual in which the memory, or idea, is stored. If they don't write it down, and let it into the world of ideas, then that person has a sole monopoly on it.
Oral history, or refusing to write anything down, is another way certain ethnicities empower themselves -- they can change the story on a whim, or sometimes they subconsciously only recall what's convenient at the time.
JJ, send an e-mail to my private Yahoo! account regarding what institution you're at these days. I'm sending out applications to doctoral programs across the land. Might as well investigate your outfit, too.
mft, the only PhDs at this outfit are in Engineering. Nearby are just UT, TAMU, and Rice plus some little shits that don't even try to sick up to Harvard by being gratuitously stupid.
Sick up? Or stick up? Or suck up? JJ, JJ, what are you talking about?
MFT: What kind of program are you looking at? Have you thought of New England? There's lots of colleges around...
he's thinking about History, AI, not Women's Studies.
