Here's a question: for some reason, I thought I was told some time ago that hurricanes are always ascribed feminine names. I understand that the names are created alphabetically. But I always thought they were feminine. Does anyone know a chick with the name, "Ike"?
That was changed a few years ago as being "gender biased". Also, it was taken as a sign of "ethnic" bias that Hispanic, Surinamese, Latvian,etc... names were not used. So, now, names must alternate in gender. The naming starting from the genesis of the storm, not from when it actually makes landfall. So it was "Gustav, Hanna, Ike", even though in terms of clobbering us it could well be "Gustave, Ike, Hanna". I am looking for Hurricane Akleos, meself.
Hey, we even have a "Hurricane Dean campaign" label -- and of course there has been a Hurricane Dean, and Ivan, and, well, you get the drift. Here is a nifty list.

I just hope Hanna keeps her sisters at home.

Shit, I should've figured as much.

Good find with the list, AI. Looks like a good poster for some office wall, too.
