AI, I started reading the titles of papers/presentations for day two, and blood started shooting out of my ear.

Anyhow, who is this "Clay" fellow? I thought I was being linked to something regarding geology and soils.

Clay is some rich guy, who instead of wasting his money on stupid things, put it into this institute -- he's the guy who offered the $1million prizes for the 7 "Millenium" problems. More here. At any rate, Thurston on Monday morning sounds like a good bet. Maybe this will induce JJ to get back to his old Cantabridian haunts?

Okay, that makes sense. Good for Mr. Clay and his wife to do that.

I trust your culinary assessment of the seafood in Pisa (anything is a step-up when you're landlocked on the North American Steppe... or is it a Steppe up?).

Isn't that (Pisa) getting close to JJ's goat-chasing territory too?

That would be the Monte Bianco, on the top of which I bet he hasn't climbed (yet). But JJ does not seem to be in the mood for Alpine fauna, lately. Although vongole, perhaps. Try the calamari, they're really no comparison with the usual stuff around here, which is more like fried onion rings that real frutti di mari.
