Shame - a first

Wow: an american shows both remorse and a rare display of humanity. Aren't they supposed instead to act self-righteous and state that this truly regrettable incident is the unfortunate yet sadly unavoidable by-product of an otherwise worthy struggle, your call is very important to us, bladi-bladi-blah?

Yada, yada, yada. Were you showing even 1% of the outrage when the Soviets were killing tens or hundreds of thousands of Afghanis from 1979 to the late 80s, and littering the land with millions of landmines, designed as toys to be picked up by children? Of course not. As all true pinkos, your outrage is selective -- always, but always, directed at Uncle Sam, never, but never, at the enemies of humanity, the head-hackers, or fellow pinkos. Thus, to be discounted, for the hypocrisy it truly is.

Ah, you got me there: a true stalinist clapping at the USSRs crimes.

ai - do you really think that just because one doesn't display a "another man against violence against women" bumper sticker on their car is an indication that they're on their way home to give Simone a good beating? That if you don't wear an "eracism" t-shirt, that is proof formal that you have joined the Klan?

You bet i was: fucking commies were disrupting the steady flow of drugs that made my puberty tolerable and were responsible for my having a modicum of a sex life. If anyone was pissed, that'd be me.

Nice people don't need drugs to have fun, Pepe.

OK, PP, I'll take you at your word, and believe you were 1% as mad at the commies when they were killing on purpose 1,000 as many innocent people as the GIs are killing by mistake. There, you feeling better? See, I'm turning into an Alan Alda alter-ego.

Killing or not killing combatants and non-combatants is a gray area, as the combatant in the evening can easily be a non-combatant family man, woman or child during the day. Each scenario where civilians appear to be killed needs to be scrutinized on its own, and as far as I know it isn't Pentagon policy to slash, kill and burn everything in site (Hitler and Stalin were better at that). Soldiers who did so should be reprimanded accordingly, and the COs who trained the soldiers as well. There's this bit of romanticism with the Left that anyone the U.S. Military kills was in fact an innocent civilian merely trying to eek out their pastoral garden of eden (not the case). And there's an annoying tendency of the Right that anything the U.S. Military has done throughout history is somehow always great (I'm thinking of at least one account I read regarding Col. Chivington and the Sand Creek Massacre). With all these layers to sift through, it's a wonder how everyone comes up with an ultimatum so quick.

This comment was about the reaction to the killings, not about the killings themselves...
