Obama gets serious on the issues

Sure enough -- it started. McCain is gonna get suckered into a bidding war on who's the biggest, baddest Nanny Stater of them all. He's got experience at the game -- after all, it's pretty much what he's been doing in the Senate for the past oh, 10-15 years. But Obama or Billary can always see him and double. It's called the Archimedean property of the reals (and the US budget), right?

To settle this once and for all, McCain and Obama should chug water, and then see who can piss the furthest.

AI, so far G.W. Bush is the biggest Nanny Stater we got.

True enough. But he didn't get into a bidding war with either Gore or Kerry over who can tax and spend more. I hope McCain won't do it, either -- at least not during the campaign (after that, all bets are off).

In other words, no matter what happens, we'll get more and more like France. But at least, if we elect someone who's not explicitly "French" (like, say, Jean Francois Kerry was), then at least we have a sporting chance to slow down the process. A modest goal...
