This reductionist approach -- can he win? -- is rather silly. That's not how primaries work. How many times do I have to repeat that?
As a reductio-ad-absurdum, what would JJ have said in 1968 and 1976 about Reagan's running for the Presidency, against Nixon, respectively Ford? The game here is more complex, you can't reduce it to such a simplistic (and largely fallacious) question.
On the other hand, Clinton challenged McCain to a vodka drinking contest during a congressional trip to Estonia in 2004. Hmmm... Was it Absolut, or Stolichnaya?
I dunno, JJ, I dunno. This is gonna be an uphill fight, for anyone that Repubs nominate, against anyone the Dems nominate. I wouldn't feel so cocky about McCain's chances against either Obama or Hillary. And, don't forget, a candidate may either grow (or implode) from Feb to Nov. So all these predictions based on a simplistic, linear ODE model are silly. Real life is a highly non-linear PDE, man. You gotta come to grips with that.

INteresting article. He doesn't think Obama can win though, so the prop is kind of false. Isn;t Lowry a Romneyite?

BTW, Obama would love to run against McCain.

He would lose. Please don't throw me in the briar patch!

Ah, so chuck logic and roll the dice on Romney.
