Shyster beating the rap

.. for a child rapist. Charming, eh?

A court-appointed shyster following a code of professional conduct which requires zealous advocacy is indeed despicable, is it not?

I don't know about the rules, but I know I don't like shysters who knowingly word hard to set free killers and rapists. What kind of people do that? Maybe we need them (do we really?), but, personally, I don't want someone like that as President.

I wouldn't approve of going above and beyond to get a killer or rapist off the hook. Our system of law is, however, predicated on adverserial proceedings wherein each shyster does their best to represent their client, and shysters, believe it or not, have a code of professional conduct which requires them to "do their best" more or less. And in this case, the shyster in question did not have a choice of clients, she was appointed to the case.

That said, I took the job I did specifically because of the people the firm represents and because cases and clients are taken with a view to helping people and society rather than making money. Yes, there are such shysters in the world, and they take it personally when you lump them in with the rest ;)
