As always, the bloody obvious

.. is a total mystery to the pinko mind: "He was trained, equipped and directed by al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula," Lieberman said on ABC. "That was an act of war. He should be treated as a prisoner of war, held in a military brig, questioned now, and should have been... You don't say.

Pat Buchanan tries his luck pissing up the same rope: This 23-year-old Nigerian is an enemy combatant whose way of war is mass murder. Under the rules of war, he may be shot. The immediate imperative was not to read him his Miranda rights or to phone Ron Kuby. It was to subject Abdulmullatab to intense and hostile interrogation so that U.S. forces can quickly find, fix, attack and kill his comrades and camp followers.

Aw, forgeddabout it. The chances of getting through the fog of Pepean Logic with Cartesian Logic kind of arguments is about 0.0001%.

Political opportunism.

On the part of Pat? Yeah, sure. But that doesn't mean he's not right in piling up on what Lieberman and many others say.

Note though that Pat later contradicts himself, by retreating into his usual isolationist position (well, the one he's held since after he ran against Bush Père back in 1992). How do you fight AQ unless you go after them at the source? Just sit tight and wait till you see the whites in their eyes? C'mon, Pat, get a grip.

Pat needs a very precisely balanced combination of pills.
