Ah, but Rot is pulling for Kagan, much as he pulled for Sotomayor. Same old, same old.
Of course, the oil spill is all Bush's fault
“Every Member should see the result of eight years of failed Bush-Cheney energy policies that have done nothing to secure our energy future,” said Pelosi spokesman Drew Hammill.

Police acting stupidly again
But I don’t think anyone was hugely shocked to know that some vestiges of old attempts to use intelligence are still there.
Using intelligence is a Russian thing these days.

What happens now. Gov. Manchin is a Democrat and so might he put off declaring the vacancy till 4 July?
Nanny State having a bit of trouble
For millions of Europeans, modest salaries and high taxes have been offset by the benefits of their cherished social model — a cradle-to-grave safety net which, in the recent boom years, seemed to grow more generous all the time. Now, governments across Europe say they have little choice but to pull back on social benefits, at least for now. Tax revenues are falling; populations are aging and rising deficits are everywhere, threatening the euro.
You don't say.

Regurge because a moment of clarity struck me while showering. Obama isn't a Manchurian Candidate or a muslim or any of those other characters. He is Kurtz. Everything from America has dissolved to a faraway PTA meeting of small people with small ideas. He alone knows what's right and who's to say who's insane.

Bibi's had enough of Hussein
Oren said President Barack Obama made judgments about Israel on the basis of cold calculation in contrast to predecessors George W Bush and Bill Clinton, who were motivated by historical and ideological factors. He suggested that Obama was less likely to be influenced by pro-Israel supporters inside or outside the White House. "This is a one-man show," he was quoted as saying.
Gee, Now It's a Double Secret Depression
..and here I am, all out of Ritalin.
10% hardcore unemployment. The takeover of the economy by the government. Debt pumped up to killing levels. The vanishing of our industrial base. The hostility of the State to all residual aspects of a free market. Gee, who woulda guessed this might be more than a little recession?

Bottom story of the day: Gore a joke (again?)
The masseuse's civil lawsuit is likely going nowhere, but it turns Gore back into a joke, a cruel fate for a man who had worked so hard to get beyond the ridicule heaped on him during the 2000 campaign.

It is clear who the Globe is rooting for and that's the same team as Sepp Blatter will help. Call it Egypt or call it Ghana, if USA wins this one, I will be shocked.
The Red and The White passing in the Night
Don Pizarro goes out in style
In Lima, Peru on 26 June 1541 a group of twenty heavily armed supporters of Diego Almagro II stormed Pizarro's palace. Most of Pizarro's guests fled, but a few fought the intruders, numbered variously between seven and 25. While Pizarro struggled to buckle on his breastplate, his defenders, including his half-brother Alcántara, were killed. For his part Pizarro killed two attackers and ran through a third. While trying to pull out his sword, he was stabbed in the throat, then fell to the floor where he was stabbed many times. Pizarro (who now was maybe as old as 70 years, and at least 62), collapsed on the floor, alone, painted a cross in his own blood and cried for Jesus Christ. He reportedly cried: Come my faithful sword, companion of all my deeds. He died moments after.

Rot's gruel is getting thinner
Some say there's little doubt that if a spill like the one in the Gulf took place on former President George W. Bush's watch, environmental groups would have unleashed an unsparing fury on the Republican in the White House. For their liberal ally, Obama, they seem willing to hold their tongues.

Bear on the prowl
Most bears are looking for either a long sideways bear market à la 1966-1982, or a hyperinflationary run to infinity. Our Elliott Wave outlook opposes both of these scenarios. The most likely profile is a stock market crash of historic proportions. Elliott Wave Theorist offers several reasons, including: "This bear market is of Supercycle degree, the biggest since 1720-1784. It should therefore include a decline deeper that the 89% decline of 1929-1932. A decline of 91.5% or more would carry it below 1,000."
A Ceausescu balcony moment
Piling up: Obama’s much-touted Oval Office address on the Gulf got instantly panned by MSNBC’s analysts in a shocker equivalent to Pravda’s best pundits dismissing a Brezhnev five-year plan.

"A more perfect resolution of the Ehrlich-Simon debate could not be imagined. All of the former's grim predictions had been decisively overturned by events. Ehrlich was wrong about higher natural resource prices, about "famines of unbelievable proportions" occurring by 1975, about "hundreds of millions of people starving to death" in the 1970s and '80s, about the world "entering a genuine age of scarcity."
In 1990, for his having promoted "greater public understanding of environmental problems," Ehrlich received a MacArthur Foundation "genius" award
As Pepe can testify, it is so Reich to be so Wronsk.

Laughing at the KAL shootdown? Why, even some card carrying commie faculty members of the Stat dept. at U. Minn. hesitated to do that.

Pater Patriae as a citoyen du monde
No doubt my observations about Obama's remoteness from the rhythms of American life will be seen by his dwindling band of beleaguered cheerleaders as just another racist right-wing attempt to whip up the backwoods knuckle-dragging swamp-dwellers of America by playing on their fears of "the other" — the sophisticated worldly cosmopolitan for whom France is more than a reliable punch line.
But in fact my complaint is exactly the opposite: Obama's postmodern detachment is feeble and parochial. It's true that he hadn't seen much of America until he ran for president, but he hadn't seen much of anywhere else, either. Like most multiculturalists, he's passed his entire adulthood in a very narrow unicultural environment where your ideological worldview doesn't depend on anything so tedious as actually viewing the world.

I know some Europeans who are not quite anti-American — they just support or accept America when the voters elect liberal Democrats. When the voters, under the influence of darkness, elect conservatives, all bets are off: America is illegit.

We got respect
[Erdogan] looks at the American hyperpower and sees, to all intents, a late Ottoman sultan — pampered, decadent, lounging on its cushions puffing a hookah but unable to rouse itself to impose its will in the world. In that sense, Turkey’s contempt for Israel is also an expression of near total contempt for Washington.
Kayla the cat
One of the more interesting physical features of this species is its external genitalia. Males have an unusually long penis and baculum, reaching to between its forelegs when erect. The glans extends down the shaft about halfway and is spiny except at the tip. The female Fossa exhibits transient masculization, starting at about 1-2 years of age, developing an enlarged, spiny clitoris that resembles a male's penis. The enlarged clitoris is supported by an os clitoridis, which decreases in size as the animal grows.

The Rooskie solution
Pravda to the rescue: But in principle there is no difference - you still need to drill a well at a distance from leaking. And it lowered the bomb. As in the movie "Armageddon" with Bruce Willis in the role of a driller. It is desirable that the calculations were done correctly. Such hope is: the U.S. is full of smart scientists and powerful computers. And Russia could have contributed. We still live peaceful nuclear demolition.
