Leningrad Returns...

If massive social misery was necessary for Dostoevsky and Chekhov to write such wonderful works on the human condition, then Putin is inadvertantly making sure that literary tradition won't die.

The link to this story is that of what happened in Moscow, but I just saw a story this Sunday morning about Putin's Riot Cops beating down Kasparov and his party in St. Petersburg.
Now this photo, a Frenchie applauding Putin in his all-black suit. Figures.

Whereby Planet Pepe shows its other side. Of course, when it comes to the US, it bitches and moans about every single little thing -- it all conspires to prove that Amerikkka is the Great Kapitalist Nazi Satan. Aahh, but when the men in black start wielding the batons, or the head-hackers start hacking, planet Pepe goes into rapture. It's all a Pavlovian reflex, hired-wired in the pinko brain.

On the contrary, ai: Putin's war on Tchechnia is about as unjustified as your war against iraq. If you read french papers from le Monde to Le Fig, you'd know that he is held in largely the same regard as W.

If we read French papers from Le Monde to Figaro we'd find Putin is held in largely the same regard as a Neocon? Care to do a sample survey?
