This is excellent news. It suggests that US colleges like the one I work(ed) at are as good as Canadian grade schools.
I never would have expected it.
A couple of bright women professors ran a seminar on "Inconvenient Truth". It was labelled as an awareness thingy--whatever the terminology is.
So they asked that students show up having seen the movie. They would see the movie again. They would discuss whether the movie was right. And they would learn how to reduce their carbon footprint.
The college provided locally-grown veggie meal.
All this in the main building, a beautiful old Georgian house, where the President's office is.
One of the woman professors happens to be a dean of some new and useless sort.

Here's an announcement.
April 19th, 2007
(5:00 - 7:30 P.M. Gartland Dining Room, Donahue Hall)
An Environmental Roundtable
Informal presentation led by Karen Talentino and Susan Mooney and discussion of the film "An Inconvenient Truth". Roundtable discussions will focus on practical solutions to decreasing carbon footprints, both on an individual and community basis. For all members of the Stonehill community. Participants are encouraged to watch the film on Hill Flicks prior to the discussion.

i don't know if any of you saw gore's movie (jj had strong opinions about farenheit 9/11 without having bothered to watch it), but it was a ridiculous piece of fluff. showing it in classrooms is appalling.

I read quite a bit about Fahrenheit 9/11 in various places, from the eft and right. I think I can tell bullshit arguments when I read them.

AA, Pepe is talking about this.

I attempted to watch F 9/11 under recommendation of a flag-waving Liberal, but when the movie started all she could do was keep saying, "SEE!!!" and "SEE, NOW WATCH THIS NEXT PART!!!"

Fluff as well. I made it about 15 minutes and told her to shut the goddamned movie off because I couldn't even hear what Michael Moore (the O'Reilly of the Left) was saying.
