Cultural Anthology for the Morrow's Great War Remembrance
The link above leads one to a Hitchens review of Anthony Powell's memoirs. The YouTube video above is "The Band Played Waltzing Matilda," covered in this case by the Pogues. Not a bad band to cover the song, as there's a melancholy yet joyful suffering in the tone of Shane's voice. I think Beckett would refer to it as the absurd depression that manifests itself in the Irish character.
AI, tell us about Romanian involvement in the Great War. I don't want this to be too dominated by the Western Front. Another note: Patton honed his tank cavalry skills under Pershing in all of this too. Lots of stuff to think about, and I'm barely presenting a glimpse.

For a cinematic rendition of that battle, hard to beat "Galipoli". A terrible war for no good earthly reason.
AA, thanks for the recommend. Check your Yahoo! account for your Armistice assignment.
Also: I'm off for fieldwork, and will be out of range again for at least a couple days, perhaps longer.
MFT. I have checked. For some reason the document is having a hardtime downloading. If I can't get it open by tomorrow, I'll e-mail you for another send.
Contact me when you get back from the fieldwork.
I'll try another format. Check in five minutes.
