Maybe barack is a member of the gran'wheezers of pinola. Considering dirt poor rednecks vote republican, it doesn't seem that far-fetched.

Here we have some clearheaded opponents of obscurantism:

Last week America elected its first black president. But while racism in America is enormously diminished, it is not dead. Blogger Rod McCullom relays a report of postelection bigotry at a rally in Los Angeles, described by a reader named Gregory (quoting verbatim):

It was like being at a klan rally except the klansmen were wearing Abercrombie polos and Birkenstocks. YOU NIGGER, one man shouted at men. If your people want to call me a FAGGOT, I will call you a nigger. Someone else said same thing to me on the next block near the temple...me and my friend were walking, he is also gay but Korean, and a young WeHo clone said after last night the niggers better not come to West Hollywood if they knew what was BEST for them.
At issue, of course, was Proposition 8, a ballot measure that makes the traditional definition of marriage part of the California Constitution. Earlier the state Supreme Court had held that definition unconstitutional and ordered that localities issue marriage licenses to couples consisting of two men or two women.

Also, in high toleration mode, the gays have reinstituted the political blacklist:

They told us that if George W. Bush was re-elected, entertainment industry figures would be blacklisted for taking unpopular political views. And, with apologies to Glenn Reynolds, they were right, as the Sacramento Bee reports:

Gay and lesbian artists called Monday for an artistic and audience boycott of California Musical Theatre after learning that its artistic director donated $1,000 to a campaign that backed banning gay marriage in California.
Scott Eckern was not available for comment Monday as the revelation has gained stunning momentum on the blogosphere. . . .
Richard Lewis, the organization's executive producer, said the board of directors will conduct an emergency meeting on the matter this afternoon. He said it was too early to tell how this would affect Eckern's 25-year employment with California Musical Theatre.
In a statement released Monday, Lewis said: "Any political action or the opinion of Scott Eckern is not shared by California Musical Theatre. We have a long history of appreciation for the LGBT community and are truly grateful for their longstanding support."
The Bee reports this afternoon that Eckern, apparently yielding to the pressure, has resigned.

Meanwhile, blogress and vulgarian Roseanne Barr illustrates the spirit of tolerance for which the pro-same-sex-marriage side is renowned (quoting verbatim):

70% of black church going Californians who voted this cycle voted for prop 8. As they overwhelmingly supported America's first chance to elect a person of color and strike a death blow to racism, they also went out of their way to misuse their votes (no doubt at the behest of their immoral and hateful pastors and clergy). . . .
They voted to destroy the constitution that Obama will hopefully uphold against their wishes. . . . They showed themselves every inch as bigoted and ignorant as their white christian right wing counterpartners who voted for mccain-palin and bush-cheney. . . .
The gay community needs to do outreach to the black and latino christian and immigrant communities.
the more things change, the more they stay the same.
REPENT all ye bible blabbers!!!!
Berating people you disagree with as "immoral," "hateful," "bigoted" and "ignorant" may not be the most effective method of "outreach."
