Says McCarthy: Not only would the magazine appear less influential if its conservative readers reject its preferred candidate; readers will be doubly miffed if their preferred candidate loses a tight general-election race to a leftist who has exploited the NR endorsement. Ramesh is not a bad guy -- I've been reading his pieces for some 20-25 years now -- but I agree, he's not a sharpie. So OK, the point is?

Ouchh!! I now read read Ramesh's rebuttal, and he does make mincemeat of two of McCarthy's points. Ah well, win some, lose some. I'm with the Arizona girl, what's her name? Maybe McCain should pick her as his running mate?
