Don't worry, be happy--says Mr Rot

Just put your head in the sand.

USS Cole again. Probably all the radars off, and more beautifully:

Petty Officer John Washak said that right after the blast, a senior chief petty officer ordered him to turn an M-60 machine gun on the Cole's fantail away from a second small boat approaching. "With blood still on my face," he said, he was told: "That's the rules of engagement: no shooting unless we're shot at." He added, "In the military, it's like we're trained to hesitate now. If somebody had seen something wrong and shot, he probably would have been court-martialed." Petty Officer Jennifer Kudrick said that if the sentries had fired on the suicide craft "we would have gotten in more trouble for shooting two foreigners than losing seventeen American sailors."[24]

Looks different to me. The Red Chinese really caught us with our pants down. No way to wriggle out of that one.

What pants down? If the instruments are on, they warn, no?

The lone Chinese vessel slipped past at least a dozen other American warships which were supposed to protect the carrier from hostile aircraft or submarines. And the rest of the costly defensive screen, which usually includes at least two U.S. submarines, was also apparently unable to detect it.

What makes you think the (detection) instruments on more than a dozen vessels were off? This would be insane, and grounds for mass firings. Much more likely, the instruments were on, and the ChiComs slipped by them. This is worrisome. But, of course, "Don't worry, be happy", says Mr Rot.

The stuff was off. No way some '50s tech sub was going to slip by shit.

The chinese have some state of the art subs. After all, they have had three decades of pillaging data from us to get all nice and caught up.
What is possible, other than their having found weaknesses in our detection, is that we knew the subs were there [shadowed fleets is par for the course] but never expected the captains to have the chutzpah to barge through the door and piss so openly on the facade of ignorance invincible.

No shocker there. We have been seeing this kind of shit for 20 years now. But depressing as all hell.
