Dowd
With Obama saying the hour is upon us to elect a black man and Hillary saying the hour is upon us to elect a woman, the Democratic primary has become the ultimate nightmare of liberal identity politics. All the victimizations go tripping over each other and colliding, a competition of historical guilts. People will have to choose which of America’s sins are greater, and which stain will have to be removed first. Is misogyny worse than racism, or is racism worse than misogyny?
MFT Contra Recycling
All this shit went down just before I got to town. The Southern Nevada Health District discovered that vials of medicine were, get this, being reused. Some Shyster lawyer is likely going to defend this group of people, probably arguing something silly like how the Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada potentially exposed 40,000 patients to hepatitis and HIV because they were recycling biohazard medical supplies.
Now, we’re [journalists covering this story] not doctors, despite what it says on the fancy medical degree we created using our office laser printer, but even we know that re-using syringes in vials of medicine is something only a greedy, criminally incompetent physician demonstrating depraved indifference to human life and suffering would do. Allegedly. (We also printed out a law degree.)

Pravda ponders joys of miles-high sex

The biggest problem is how to conceive, because liquid cannot be spilt under the condition of weightlessness. [..] In space men exercise on treadmills. In addition, they can theoretically masturbate too. But they should not forget about condoms or other containers, otherwise drop of sperm will be flying chaotically in the cabin and they will have to collect it. [..] Right after the take-off a human being experiences a great load... Hmmm...
Harvard goes full-hog dhimmi
No men are allowed in the gym between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Mondays, and between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Even the staff during those times is all women. The special hours allow the Muslim women, who adhere to traditional dress codes by covering their hair and most of their skin while in public, to dress more appropriately for exercising Pepe nirvana!

From CNN today
The United States today used precision missiles to strike a "known terrorist target" in southern Somalia, a U.S. military official said. The strike destroyed two houses killing three women and three children, a local official told CNN.
Forward-thinking use of the term "precision". You reckon these children needed a good lesson? Who knows, maybe the women were running around on their husbands and the US granted a merciful death, far preferable to a good'ol stoning. [Found the link for you, Pepe. --JJ]

Selling out to Amerikkka

One might speculate that the guilt became all the more poignant to the extent her success was unearned. Michelle Obama's employer, The University of Chicago Hospitals, paid her $121,910, a reasonable sum for the skill level evident in her thesis, but raised this to $316,952 shortly after her husband was elected US senator. [..] Bitterness over the meager price that the white power structure offered for her soul nags at Michelle Obama. Give it to me, I promise not to be bitter. I may even buy a 6-pack for JJ.

Cook On FCP's "Kinetic Energy"

Captain Cook's March 1st, 2008 Newsletter Update:
An insurgency by definition is a political struggle to overthrow an existing order or government in a country. While there are diehard Al Qaeda fighters like Noman Jawar who will never stop fighting, a vast majority of those who were once fighting us in our area are looking for a way to stop fighting. Through a series of painstaking meetings and negotiations with local leaders, we are developing a formal program to provide for a cease fire with all those that wish to turn themselves in. In exchange, those who have not committed crimes against innocent Iraqis will be granted amnesty and allowed to return to come out of the shadows, and become law abiding citizens in their community.
The other day, I attended a town hall meeting where one of the former spiritual leaders of the insurgency in the area made a passionate speech to the people to lay down their arms and join him in the reconciliation process. He was the original person that I met with to start this process. His willingness to take a public stand in favor of reconciliation was important, but it also put him at great risk with his former friends. I count his willingness to come out publicly in favor of reconciliation as a very positive sign that this process might bear fruit.
Note: the pic is of a different scene than the one Cook discusses above.

A Fistful of Dollars for Barrakhan Bonds

FEBRUARY 29--A federal judge today ordered the unsealing of the transcript of Barry Bonds's December 2003 testimony before a San Francisco grand jury, an appearance that resulted in the baseball star's indictment last year on perjury and obstruction of justice charges. The 149-page Bonds grand jury transcript, which U.S. District Court Judge Susan Illston ordered released, can be downloaded here (PDF file). The unsealing order came following a court hearing during which Illston cited deficiencies in the Bonds indictment and directed prosecutors to either redraft the document or head back into a grand jury to seek a new indictment. While the entire Bonds transcript is worth a read, we particularly enjoyed his answer to a question posed by one juror about Greg Anderson, the athlete's beleaguered friend and trainer. "With all the money you make, have you ever thought of maybe building him a mansion or something?" Bonds replied, "One, I'm black. And I'm keeping my money. And there's not too many rich black people in this world. And I'm keeping my money. There's more wealthy Asian people and Caucasian and white. There ain't that many rich black people. And I ain't giving my money up. That's why."

Hey, do any of you profs do this? Check it out:
After missing a week of classes for personal reasons, [Professor] Solomon returned to school and offered his students a refund on their tuition for the time he'd missed... what would happen if others around here [Las Vegas] started giving refunds for promised services they failed to render?
There would be a lot of lap dancers looking for work -- and a bunch of politicians, too. (As a rule, lap dancers are distinguishable from local politicians because they actually wear G-strings when customers flash the cash. Politicians, well, let's just say they aren't as modest.)

Tholen, 53, wouldn't say much more about Von Bergendorff or the discovery Thursday of several vials of ricin, which is deadly in minuscule amounts, at the man's extended-stay hotel room on Valley View Boulevard near Flamingo Road... Adding to the mystery, police said late Friday that firearms, an "anarchist-type textbook" and castor beans, from which ricin is made, were found in the room where the poison was discovered.

Obama says he’s the bridge-builder. But I keep hearing right-wing radio types say they’d vote for Hillary Clinton before John McCain. None of them ever say they’d vote for Obama. Should Hillary be highlighting that?
I don’t know if “Bridge-Builder to the Lunatic Right” is the kind of nickname you want at this point in the campaign.

THE HAGUE, 29/02/08 - Public broadcaster KRO has dropped plans to make a Biblical variant of MP Geert Wilders' short film on the Koran. "After exhaustive discussion, journalists on various editorial staff have decided not to make a film on the Bible," KRO said in a statement.
"The aim of the project was to make a contribution to the debate on the method that Geert Wilders - according to Wilders himself - wants to apply in his film on the Koran. This aim could not however in the view of KRO journalists be achieved satisfactorily."
In his short film Fitna, intended to be shown in March, Wilders wants to show gruesome events said to be inspired by the Koran. KRO, nota bene itself a Catholic broadcaster, wanted to show that such a film could also be made about the Bible.
The film was "one of the plans for participating in the debate that Geert Wilders has aroused with his proposal to ban the Koran. After extensive research, linking Bible quotations with real political events and acts of violence however produced an insufficient basis for a thorough journalistic production."

Kinetic energy
A major assumption of previous U.S. commanders in Iraq had been that "kinetic" operations--the favored neologism for "combat"--were counter-productive, producing more resentment and more insurgents. They emphasized the need to win hearts and minds and to avoid alienating the population. While major combat operations generate resentment among the population, and may encourage indigenous forces to become dependent on outside assistance, Petraeus and Odierno recognized that such problems pale in comparison with allowing the enemy to control key terrain and attack targets at will. Duhhh... I mean, do you need to be a military genius to understand that, in war, an Army needs to conduct combat operations?
