Hapsburg Heir: Bran Castle For Sale

Another 14th century attempt at checking the Jihad advance. Now a bastion of Vampire mythology (sans peacock).

Yeah, I was there many times -- most recently, in 2001. Beautiful land, the Burzenland. Of course, it's invaded now by schlock and kitsch around the castle (which is still an impressive sight), but if you get out a few hundred yards from it, it's all nice and peaceful.

Thanks, MFT -- info you sent is on wiki now.

Wow AI, sounds like a good museum/tour to go through.

It's incredible how much culture has been pressed into a seemingly inanimate and static structure: Vampires and Soviet and Nazi occupation and Islamic crusades and the Hapsburgs and their former Empire and on and on and on...

You mean, at the Bran Castle? Yes, it's all in the GUT (Grand Unified Theory) spirit. But some of the history is still missing there -- there was also a Elizabeth Báthory-type of lady there who would kill the young girls in the village and drink their blood -- or so they say. I gotta research that at some point.

Not only would that aspect be interesting (to find out whether it's true or not), but additionally (and as you suggest), it'd be just as interesting to hear how the folks living around the castle have interpreted Beth's tenure themselves.

Alright, AI: time for you to go on Humanities Assignment. Enough of this mathematics mumbo jumbo. Let's get to the Historical heart of the matter. Sounds like a grant is in order...
