A source told the Tribune that Emanuel delivered a list of "acceptable" Democrats to Blagojevich including Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett, Illinois Veterans Affairs director Tammy Duckworth, state Comptroller Dan Hynes and U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky of Evanston, Ill. Schakowsky told the Tribune it was "natural" for Obama to take an interest in the selection process for his Senate seat, saying, "It makes perfect sense for the president-elect or his people to have some interaction about filling the seat he was vacating."

A cornucopia of corrupt crapulence from Planet Pepe:
For partisans, there’s the schadenfreude that comes with watching the Democrats — self-proclaimed anti-corruption zealots in recent years — explain why Blagojevich shouldn’t be lumped in with Congressmen Charlie Rangel (cut himself sweetheart deals), William Jefferson ($90,000 in his freezer) and Tim Mahoney (tried to bribe an aide he was sleeping with not to sue him — and you thought romance was dead) as part of a new Democratic “culture of corruption” storyline.
It's beyond schadenfreude -- total disgust for those slobbering moral midgets and nattering poseurs.
But it’s worth remembering that there really isn’t any such thing as a “new politics.” Politics is eternal because human nature is unchanging. Even Barack Obama, hero-saint light-worker Jedi Knight Messiah that he is, came from a political culture that would not be unrecognizable to Caligula.
Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.
Rasmussen poll:
Men are more suspicious than women, with 18% of male voters saying it is Very Likely Obama was involved in the scandal, compared to eight percent (8%) of women. But 38% of women and 24% of men say the president-elect was not involved at all.
Aha. This explains why Pepe thinks it's all a Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, nothing to see there, just MoveOn.
